Lexis is a vocabulary of language.
According to modern semasiology, lexical, grammatical and stylistic meanings make up the plan for maintaining the lexical unit.
The American version of the English language has become especially widespread: in a number of spheres of human life and activity, in the fields of material culture, economics and finance, education and healthcare, and in many other areas. It is well known that British English and American English are variants of the same language, but there are a number of differences between them. There are two main types of lexical and semantic differences: differences in the external, material side of lexical units with a common meaning - differences in terms of expression and differences in the meaning of lexical units with a common external side - differences in the content of the plan.
In the course of work were considered:
1. Lexis;
2. Lexical divergences of different languages;
3. The main lexical differences between British and American English.
Thus, the tasks were completed.
